Paperback release day! And a contest!

Hello friends!

Are you enjoying your fall? I certainly am! As you know, I live in Los Angeles so fall around here means that four leaves change color and the weather drops to the mid-60s and everyone (including me) puts on a scarf and talks about how “brisk” it is outside. It’s great! I love weather!

I also love having lots of news to tell you, but before we do that, here is your Obligatory Hudson Moment. We had lunch with Lauren Morrill last week and Hudson has a big crush now.

I love how Lauren and I took exactly ZERO pictures together, but I have three of her with Hudson. Great prioritizing, Robin.

So where were we? News! I have news!

You may have noticed that the paperback of ALSO KNOWN AS was released yesterday. If you didn’t notice, consider yourself notified! And in addition to being a bit smaller and lighter (great for travel, HINT HINT), it also has a snippet from my next book in the series, GOING ROGUE! I don’t want to brag, but it’s a pretty good snippet. I had a lot of fun writing it, so I hope you have an equal amount of fun reading it.

And speaking of GOING ROGUE, we have less than three months until it’s released on January 14, 2014. THAT IS SO SOON. Maggie & Co. have a few more adventures in the sequel and I can’t wait for you to read them. I know it’s available for pre-order wherever fine books are sold, as well as being up on NetGalley, and I’ll definitely be giving away ARCs on my blog as we get closer to the release date, so sit tight! I’ll also being visiting a few cities, including Los Angeles, Houston, and San Francisco, so I hope I can see you there!

But the really cool news? My awesome publisher Bloomsbury/Walker is having a spy contest!

ANNOUNCING . . . THE ALSO KNOWN AS SPY TEAM (no law-breaking required)!

Did you love Maggie, Roux, Jessie, Angelo, and the rest of ALSO KNOWN AS? Do you want to help promote the sequel, GOING ROGUE? We’re recruiting members for a super-special spy team! It’ll be just like working for The Collective—only a lot more legal and a lot less dangerous. Spies will be given access to crucial case documents like chapter excerpts, copies of ALSO KNOWN AS to give away to their friends or on their blogs, and clues to what happens in GOING ROGUE. They’ll be given the first look at brand-new evidence (aka a fun story that takes place between the books!) In exchange, all we ask is that you promote this content and ALSO KNOWN AS and GOING ROGUE on your blogs and social media accounts.

Sound intriguing? To join the spy team, just send an email to teensusa@bloomsbury.com with ALSO KNOWN AS SPY TEAM in the subject line. Tell us your name, location (city/state), blog (if you have one), and social media accounts. Happy spying!

HOW COOL IS THAT? Almost as cool as the publicity & marketing team at BW Kids, that’s how cool. They are the best. Join now and tell them I said hi!

I also just got back from Michigan, where I recorded the audiobook for GOING ROGUE. Such a crazy and fun experience. But let me tell you one thing. Lean in, kids, this is important: If you ever get to be in the awesome position of narrating your own book, make sure that you do not–you DO NOT–include a scene with multiple cuckoo clocks. Learn from my mistakes. (Yes, I have an mp3 of this scene. Yes, it is mortifying. No, you cannot hear it yet.)

Otherwise, things are pretty calm around here. I’m working hard on EMMY & OLIVER, which is new and different and difficult and fun all at the same time. These imaginary teenagers are EXHAUSTING, I tell you, but they surprise me every day and I love them for it. I’m also trying to convince Hudson to snuggle with me now that it’s colder out (50% success rate so far), taking more walks, seeing more friends, and appreciating my weird little life. Thank you for reading my books & blog and supporting what I do. I could not be more grateful.

If we don’t talk before Thanksgiving, have a wonderful holiday! I’ll be doing most of the cooking this year and trying to convince my family to let me watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. (ARE YOU READING THIS, FAMILY? PARADE > FOOTBALL. YEAH, I SAID IT.)

Anyhoodle, I hope all is well with you. Until next time!

New Book Things!

We meet again, friends!

I’m glad we’re catching up because I have so much to tell you! I have SEQUEL NEWS and NEW BOOK NEWS! Where do I even begin?

Let’s start with NEW BOOK NEWS! From this morning’s Publisher’s Lunch!

September 4, 2013 – EMMY & OLIVER by Robin Benway

Author of Audrey, Wait! and the Also Known As series Robin Benway’s EMMY & OLIVER, a novel of lost and found love after a girl’s childhood best friend is returned following a parental kidnapping, to Kristen Pettit at Harper Children’s, in a two-book deal, by Lisa Grubka at Fletcher & Company (NA).

WHEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve sat on this news for a long, long time, so it’s so nice to have it be officially official! I’ve been wanting to write EMMY & OLIVER for a few years now, so it’ll be exciting to get started. I love meeting new characters and hearing what they have to say. Also, Kristen Pettit is not only a lovely person & editor, but she was my editor on AUDREY, WAIT! so I’m thrilled to work with her again. Popsicles all around!

And if that wasn’t enough news, I have more! GOING ROGUE, the sequel to ALSO KNOWN AS, will be published on January 14, 2014! My first sequel!

goingRogue_LimeGreen_AKAfillOoh! Intrigue! Rogue things! And I’m trying to track down that owl necklace that Maggie is wearing on the cover, so hit a girl up if you know where to find it.

I can tell you a few things about the book without spoiling it: It involves spies. (Duh.) Bad guys. Kissing. Cuckoo clocks. Chess matches. Paris. Jesse. Roux. And Angelo, of course. We could never forget Angelo! I posted a photo of the inside quotes on Instagram, so take a look. (Picking the quotes is one of my favorite parts of writing a book, by the way.)

Screen shot 2013-09-05 at 9.41.32 AMI’ve also been keeping a super-secret Tumblr page filled with all the pictures, videos, songs, and miscellany that I’ve collected while researching & writing GOING ROGUE, so I’ll put the link up once the book is published. How did people procrastinate write books before Tumblr? It’s a mystery.

In the meantime, you can pre-order GOING ROGUE at B&N, Amazon, or your local indie. And I will be touring for this book, but I’m not sure when or where yet, so stay tuned! It’s always an adventure!

I hope you are all lovely and well and healthy and happy. Now let’s get ready for autumn!
